Honeysuckle Family

Linnaea borealis ssp. americana (=Linnaea borealis var. americana).  TWINFLOWER.  Subshrub or perennial.  Kaibab Plateau in Coconino County, White Mountains in Apache County, at ca. 9000 feet [McD].

Lonicera albiflora.  WESTERN WHITE HONEYSUCKLE.  Shrub.  Reported from southern Apache County, at 5000-6000 feet [McD].

Lonicera arizonica.  ARIZONA HONEYSUCKLE.  Shrub.  Coconino, Navajo, and Apache counties, at 6000-9000 feet [McD].

Lonicera involucrata.  TWINBERRY HONEYSUCKLE.  TWINFLOWER.  Shrub.  Coconino and Apache counties, at 7500-11,000 feet [McD].

Lonicera japonica.  JAPANESE HONEYSUCKLE.  Shrub.  Escape from cultivation, found near Clarkdale in Yavapai County at ca. "2600 feet" [McD].  Since Clarkdale is located at about 3500 feet, and there is no point near the town lower than about 3300 feet, perhaps the elevation was meant to read "3600 feet."

Lonicera utahensis.  UTAH HONEYSUCKLE.  Shrub. Reported from White Mountains in Apache County, 9500-11,000 feet [McD].

Sambucus nigra ssp. canadensis (=Sambucus mexicana).  COMMON ELDERBERRY.  MEXICAN ELDER.  Shrub or tree.  Mohave, Yavapai, Coconino, and Navajo counties, 1000-4000 feet [McD].

Sambucus nigra ssp. cerulea (=Sambucus glauca).  BLUE ELDERBERRY.  Shrub or tree.  Mohave, Yavapai, Coconino, and Apache counties, 5100-8500 feet [McD].

Sambucus racemosa var. racemosa (=Sambucus microbotrys).  RED ELDERBERRY.  Coconino and Apache counties, 6400-10,000 feet [McD].

Sambucus racemosa var. melanocarpa {=Sambucus melanocarpa).  BLACK ELDERBERRY.  Shrub.  Reported from the Kaibab Plateau of Coconino County, and White Mountains of Apache County, 6500-9400 feet [McD].

Symphoricarpos longiflorus.  DESERT SNOWBERRY.  Shrub.  Mohave and Coconino counties, 3500-8500 feet [McD].

Symphoricarpos oreophilus.  MOUNTAIN SNOWBERRY.  Shrub.  Yavapai, Coconino, Navajo, and Apache counties, 5500-9000 feet [McD].

Symphoricarpos oreophilus var. utahensis (=Symphoricarpos utahensis).  UTAH SNOWBERY.  Shrub.  Coconino and Apache counties, 6000-8500 feet [McD].

Symphoricarpos palmeri.  PALMER'S SNOWBERRY.  Shrub.  Navajo and Apache counties, 7000-8000 feet [McD].

Symphoricarpos rotundifolius.  ROUNDLEAF SNOWBERRY.  Shrub.   Yavapai, Coconino, Navajo, and Apache counties, 4000-10,000 feet [McD].

Symphoricarpos rotundifolius var. parishii (=Symphoricarpos parishii).  PARISH'S SNOWBERRY.  Shrub.  Mohave, Coconino, Navajo, and Apache counties, 3800-9000 feet (but mostly between 6000-8000 feet) [McD].
